HOW TO APPLY TO US FOR A HOME
Knowes Housing Association currently has over 1000 properties in Faifley (map of Faifley), Duntocher and surrounding areas. A full list of streets we cover is detailed on the housing application form.
To apply to Knowes Housing Association for housing, you must firstly complete a housing application. Please note, making an application does not guarantee you will receive an offer as we have extremely high demand for our properties as there are more people on our waiting list than we have properties to let.
We have worked together with West Dunbartonshire Council and several other community-based housing associations operating within the West Dunbartonshire area to set up an improved, simplified way to apply for housing. This shared housing application form enables you to apply to other partner landlords at the same time using one online form.
www.west-dunbarton.gov.uk/applyhousing.
Please note that you must be over 16 years of age to make an application, and your application will automatically be sent to the landlords you select on the online form. To apply to another other local housing provider not included on the shared form, please contact them directly.
The form asks you for all the relevant information we need to assess your circumstances – please ensure all information is provided, otherwise your form will not be accepted. To assist with completing your application, a how to guide can be found HERE.
Knowes Housing Association recognises housing need factors and applicants are pointed within their appropriate group according to that need. There are, however, other groups where the applicants do not have a recognised housing need, but wish to move for other reasons, usually aspirational. We examine individual applicants' current housing circumstances and their requirements, and our allocations reflect this. We operate a Groups plus Points system which means applicants are awarded points for each "needs factor" recognised in our Allocations Policy. Housing Need is a general term used to describe individuals or households who benefit from being housed in accommodation which will alleviate specific factors such as overcrowding, homelessness or the current property being unsuitable due to medical reasons. Any applicant who feels they have a medical condition which is being made worse by their current accommodation should complete an Application for Medical Priority. If you are experiencing any social issues at your current accommodation, such as harassment, victim of crime, or require to move to Faifley to receive or provide support you can apply for Social Points by completing the Social Points Application.
If you have any problems completing the online form, please contact our Allocations Team by telephoning (01389) 877752 and select Option 2 – alternatively, you can email AllocationsTeam@knowes.org. Please note that we are only able to provide assistance on how to apply to Knowes Housing Association. If you require help on how to apply to any of the other landlords, you must contact them directly. All contact details are contained in the online application.
Once we have received your completed form, we will contact you within 5 days to confirm we have received your form, and we will advise you at that point if we require any further information from you. It should take no more than 28 days from the date you submit your application for us to fully process it, and once fully processed, you will receive a letter confirming you have been placed on our housing list, and how many points you have been awarded.
If you are unable to complete the online application, housing application packs can be posted out on request by contacting our office – or you can call into the office to collect a pack. Please note that these housing application packs will only allow you to apply to Knowes Housing Association for housing.
