Resizing your webpages for improved visibility

Most modern web browsers allow you to control the size of the page you wish to view. This means that you can zoom (magnify) the whole page, allowing you to set a size that is most comfortable and readable. As there are many web browsers available we have chosen the most commonly used to provide information about how to use your web browser to zoom in (and out) in a page.

The information below provides details for the following browsers;

• Internet Explorer 7, 8 and 9.
• Mozilla / Firefox 2.6+
• Opera
• Safari
• Google Chrome

Internet Explorer (versions) 7, 8 and 9

Using your Mouse:

• Click the Magnifying glass icon at the bottom right corner of the Internet Explorer window. Or, select the arrow to open the list of options and select one.

Using your keyboard:

• Press CTRL + PLUS SIGN (+) to zoom in
• Press CTRL + HYPHEN (-) to zoom out.

Mozilla / Firefox 2.6+

Using your Mouse:

• At the top of the Firefox windowOn the menu bar, click the View menu, then go to Zoom. Select either Zoom In, Zoom Out, or Reset for their corresponding action.

Using your keyboard:

• Zoom in: [CTRL +] or [CTRL Mousewheel up]
• Zoom out: [CTRL -] or [CTRL Mousewheel down]
• Reset Zoom: [CTRL 0]

Opera

Using your mouse:

• At the top of the Opera windowOn the menu bar, click the View menu, then go to Zoom. Select either Zoom In, Zoom Out.

Using your keyboard:

• Use your "+" and "-" keys to zoom in or out of a website in increments of 10 percent, respectively.
• Watch the progress bar to keep track of your zooming habits.
• Consider using special keys on your keyboard to have more control over how zooming operates on a website. Pressing "0" zooms in and pressing "9" zooms out in increments of 10 percent just like using the "+" and "-." If you'd like to zoom in and out by increments of 100 percent, press "8" and "7" respectively.
• Revert back to the normal text size by pressing "6" or the star key on your keyboard.

Safari and Google Chrome

Using your mouse:

• At the top of the browser windowOn the menu bar, click the document icon (page menu), then go to Zoom. Select either Zoom In, Zoom Out or Normal (reset).

Using your keyboard:

• Zoom in: [CTRL +] or [CTRL Mousewheel up]
• Zoom out: [CTRL -] or [CTRL Mousewheel down]
• Reset Zoom: [CTRL 0]
